Meet Jack Seddon, our Managing Director

If the name of our Managing Director, Jack Seddon, sounds reassuringly familiar, it’s because he hails from the Seddon family, representing five generations of building industry experience and 120 years of construction heritage, innovation and integrity.

Today, the Edgefold Homes team carries forward this proud tradition with a mix of trusted construction techniques and bold contemporary design flourishes. Every brick, floor plan and perfectly designed fitting is built on the same solid foundations and shaped by the same values, beliefs and dedication to detail that has defined our family history.

Building on 120 year foundations – where it all began

Edgefold Homes has a rich construction heritage – underpinned by family values and a strong social conscience.

1897

Our origins date back to 1897 when brothers George and John Seddon, left the coal mines and founded their own business, equipped only with a handcart and their ambition.

1920s

In 1920 G & J Seddon became a limited company and throughout the post-war era provided much needed employment and construction expertise during a time of recovery.

1960s – 1970s

With the growth of social housing in the 60s and 70s house building became a key focus for the Seddon business as their social conscience came to the fore.

Over the years the Seddon family name became synonymous with quality, integrity and a willingness to quote competitively.

2009

Through hard work and strategic acquisition, the original small business grew into a much larger, diverse entity with separate divisions for construction, maintenance and plant hire.

2013

In 2013 the Seddon Group reorganised and restructured and 6 years on from that in the April of 2019 the George & Stephen Seddon branch added another string to their bow in the house building sector, Edgefold Homes.

Today the company operates as a totally independent trading entity but still under the ownership of the Seddon family to the same set of family values and beliefs, led by fifth-generation Seddon family members.
